Saturday marked the 22nd annual National Public Lands Day, with more than 2,500 work projects across the country recruiting 175,000 volunteers.
Greater sage grouse populations across the West have been in decline for decades, and this September the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is expected to decide whether to formally list the bird as a threatened or endangered species.
The Wind River Conservation Program has been working with a bunch of local youth on great community service projects in and around the Wind River Indian Reservation. And some of the work has been done in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.
