Fisher joined the Hungry Horse/Glacier View and Tally Lake Ranger Districts as Trail Manager in 2009. Since then, his trainings and support have directly contributed to the fulfillment of MCC’s mission and core values.

MCC Recognized as 21st Century Conservation Service Corps

Forest Service, Northern Region, Deputy Regional Forester, Tom Schmidt, joined the Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) in Boulder Hot Springs last week, to celebrate the end of an AmeriCorps term for 50 MCC crew leaders.

MCC is now accepting applications for field crew and youth crew leader positions for the 2014 season!


We traveled for hours, far from home, through cities and towns, a deep mine, and a wide valley that could have been the footprint of a god. Finally, we made camp by the river of no return, and began our work the following day.


MCC Youth Crew Helps Out at Special K Ranch

In the Billings Gazette on July 18, 2012.  By Zach Benoit.  Tyler Sproule, a resident at the Special K Ranch just east of town, pointed to the rows of tomato plants hanging behind him, their thick vines heavy with not-quite-ripe fruit and curling around supports. See those there,” he asked. “Lowering these would normally take us like three days and we did it one day. I like having these new faces here. Those new faces are a group of Montana Conservation Corps members — six teens and a pair of Americorps service members as group leaders — in the youth service program who are spending a week at the ranch helping out, working side by side with its staff and residents.

Montana teens, ages 15 to 17, needed to apply today!

What are you doing this summer? Do you want to get outside, gain job skills, and have fun while doing it? Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) seeks Montana teens ages 15 to 17 to apply for a four-week, summer, camping experience with our Expedition program. As part of an MCC Expedition, you will live in the outdoors with a group of five other teens while working on projects like building and maintaining trails, tagging fish, planting trees, monitoring streams, and other outdoor work on public lands.

The next meeting of the MCC Board of Directors will be May 17th in Helena, MT.


Bozeman – Montana Conservation Corps (MCC) announced today that nearly 40 of its AmeriCorps national service members are set to deploy as part of the response effort to Hurricane Sandy. MCC will deploy members on a 30 day disaster response effort in coordination with the Corporation for National and Community (CNCS) Service and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

2012 Youth Serve Montana Scholarship

The Youth Serve Montana Scholarship rewards up to 70 high school seniors, who have volunteered 100 hours in the last year, with a $1,000 scholarship to attend one of 20 Montana colleges and universities that are part of the Montana Campus Compact (http://www.mtcompact.org). If you successfully completed our Expedition program then you have completed the required 100 hours! The most competitive applications will show additional service above and beyond the MCC program, but fear not if all of your volunteer hours come from MCC-there’s always a chance-so get your application in, too!
