What do business marketing, building oyster reefs, and Butler University all have in common? Other than an interesting alliteration, probably not much. But if you take a look around at the new faces on MCC’s staff, these three things point to one person: Andrea Walker.
Walker started her trek in national service with the National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) after studying business marketing at Butler. As a team leader, she did everything from building oyster reefs to assisting in disaster response. After that experience, Walker says she knew she wanted to continue serving and helping other people.
A year later following her NCCC term, Walker enrolled with MCC as a Field Crew Leader for the Western Wildlands region. Her crew spent the majority of their season in the 1.3 million-acre Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness just south of Missoula. Walker rejoined MCC this year as the Program Manager of MCC’s Central Divide region.
When she’s not supporting AmeriCorps she enjoys mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, music and hanging out with her dog, Dominic.
