Warm Hearts Warm Homes is a state program designed by the governor to assist low income families in preparing for winter and for the past 3 weeks we have provided the work force. All of the crews were broken up into 6 smaller groups to help achieve the programs agenda. This years goal was to weatherize homes in every county of Montana and that involves a whole lot of drive time. The weatherizing kits carried a little bit of everything that could help to keep the cold out and energy cost down and We would install everything we could from window coverings to carbon monoxide alarms. It was quite a change of pace from trail work, from swing a pick for 10 hours and only seeing 5 other faces, to being in town all day and walking into several houses a day, but it was well worth it to be able to provide an immediate change for people even if all they need was some company.
