Here and Gone

I was graduating from college in December and wanted to do something for the winter/spring.  I heard about the MCC experience from a friend, but had to turn down crew member opportunity a few years back. Now, I was being offered a crew leader position, so I thought I might as well give it whorl… it sounded like a great opportunity to gain leadership skills, meet new people, and have an amazing experience.

Once training got underway I thought to myself, what have I gotten into? All this overwhelming information on how to handle a crew and the many various situations I might find myself in.  But once we got into the hard skills, I felt at home and thought I could handle anything.

Then came the official season with the staff lecturing us to hold on and go for a ride.  That’s exactly what happened.  I got the best crew I could ever ask for and paired with the best co- leader.  We got a gamer karate kid from San Fran (Frisco), who was our representative for Red Dawn!  We also got a New Yorker who didn’t put up with any bullshit and had a kind heart.  A girl from Washington who was a fun loving space cat who always lifted crew morale.  And of course two Kentucky boys who jumped right into whatever I told them to do and always made it a laugh.  We all had experiences that opened our eyes and brought us together as a family.

All in all, the season flew by with so much knowledge gained and three members returning as leaders.  I couldn’t have asked for a better season and staff who had my back and always asked about how I was doing.  With that, the season was here and gone.
