After so much preparation, working and hiking; it still feels surreal to actually be at Big Prairie.
We spent so many long, hard-work filled days at Salmon Forks clearing about 400 trees from the trail around the lake, it seemed perfectly feasible that Big Prairie would have to wait.
But we got it done in time. All of those trees, cramped hands, sore backs, legs, and shoulders all paid off. We cleared it and the very next day found ourselves making the final push under a blazing sun to Big Prairie.
I don’t think I’d be exaggerating when I say the last few hundred yards to the ranger station were some of the most beautiful steps I’ve ever taken.
Plus when we arrived we were greeted with cookies, Tang, and SHOWERS!
I think we stumbled into heaven.
