After an early morning meeting at the Central Divide MCC office, we drove to Log Gulch Campground just north of Helena. We met with our partner who worked with the BLM and quantity took precedence over quality of work. Our project was to widen a game trail so visitors can enjoy the trail without having to guess which way the trail goes. The first day we dug out vegetation, which was had nutrient rich soil and roots. This work was physically and mentally exhausting, so making sure we used our leg muscles and not our back is vital. After a long 10-hour day, we finally had the chance to head back to camp, cook some pancakes and hash browns for dinner, and fall asleep.
