National Public Lands Day 2012

Join us for National Public Lands Day, September 29.

Bozeman - Gallatin Regional Park

Description: This year, we’re once again partnering with REI, FORParks, and Gallatin Valley Land Trust to build one of our community’s beloved parks. Lots of projects are on tap for the day including: Construction and installation of picnic tables, landscape around the brand new pump track, installation of signs and kiosks, completion of landscaping around the climbing boulder, tree plantings, and many more. We will work from 9 to 3, with free lunch from Baja Fresh at 1pm. As a volunteer we promise you a rewarding day of giving back to your public lands!

Missoula - Fort Missoula Regional Park and Milltown State Park

Description: Join MCC, REI Missoula, and Missoula Parks and Rec on National Public Lands Day - the largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands Americans enjoy. Together, we’ll build picnic tables and plant native trees and shrubs at Fort Missoula and complete a variety of projects at Milltown State Park. This project is part of America’s Great Outdoors Initiative. A free BBQ will be held at the end of the event for all volunteers.

Pompeys Pillar National Monument -  Meet at 8:30 A.M.
Hwy 312 & US 94 (30 Minutes East of Billings)

We’ll work to remove of old fences in disrepair, restore recreation facilities, remove noxious weeds that inhibit native species growth, install kiosks, and much more!

Sundance Recreation Area -  Meet at 9:00 A.M.
From Laurel, Hwy 212 S., left at Thiel Road

Work will involve fencing, brush removal, trail maintenance, and various other projects.

LUNCH PROVIDED for both locations, and potential door prizes at Sundance Rec Area!


We’ll complete a variety of projects at Lone Pine State Park and Herron Park. For more information call 406-755-3619
