Expedition MemberNOW HIRING! Expedition is for Montana teens ages 15 to 17. As an Expedition Service crew member, your home is a tent for much of the time, where meals are shared around camp with fellow crew members. For four weeks, you will be led by two graduates of the MCC Leadership Development program and will serve alongside other youth from around the state who share your passion and drive. You will be working, serving, and learning in some of Montana’s wildest places. You could find yourself repairing fences in Glacier National Park, building off-highway-vehicle trails in the Little Belt Mountains, or helping with natural resource conservation on the Rocky Mountain Front. Each Expedition session begins with a two-day orientation covering safety, leave no trace principles, and program basics, expectations, and logistics. Expedition crew members are taught the MCC Program Objectives of communication and team skills, leadership skills, environmental stewardship, technical field skills, and the development of a strong service ethic directly through their crew experience and complementary daily education. Projects will be a mix of “backcountry spikes” where crews will be packed a few miles into the project site, camping there for five to twelve days, and “front country spikes” where your crew car camps near the project site. You will be exposed to challenging physical work as well as the rigors of camp life. During the weekend you will have time off to get to know your crew and the area that you are working in through recreation, exploration, education, and relaxation. Connect to nature, gain outdoor skills, develop healthy relationships, and discover how you are part of the solution to your community’s needs! Qualified individuals with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. We provide reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals and are an equal opportunity employer. BenefitsUpon successful completion of the full four weeks of service, Expedition members receive a Presidential Service Award and $200 service award for their hard work.
