Program Dates: Rolling start date (February 5 to May 11) through August 17, 2018. You will receive more extensive leadership training by enrolling sooner!
Living Allowance: $631.50 biweekly
AmeriCorps Education Award: $2,907.50* upon completion of the program (*amount will vary based on length of term of service)
The Crew Leader position is a great opportunity for someone interested in developing their leadership skills, enhancing relationships within the local community, and positively impacting young adults with projects on nearby ancestral lands.
Leadership Training! You will participate in MCC's Leadership Development Program (LDP), which offers technical and fundamental skill training such as chainsaw use, trail construction, risk management, and leadership skills.
Community Building! You will work with local community organizations, agencies, and educational institutions to build relationships within the Blackfeet community and to help select members for the summer crew operating in Blackfeet nation.
Field Work! Once the summer session starts, you will be based mainly in Browning, MT, to co-lead 9 weeks of field based projects with your crew. As a crew, you’ll work with a variety of tribal, federal and non-profit partners to complete important natural resource management, cultural, and community service projects. Project partners include the Blackfeet Tribal lands department, Tribal Historic Preservation Dept, Glacier National Park, the US Forest Service and more.
