As part of your term with Montana Conservation Corps, you're asked to volunteer your time to assist other local community nonprofits. This is a way for you to not only understand the culture of your host city but also allows you to play an active role within the community. You can find an extensive list of nonprofit organizations to volunteer for by clicking this link. Here are a few organizations alumni have recommended in the past.

Rocky Mountain Development Council - RMDC is a Community Action Agency that provides a wide range of programs and services to the region. They are always looking for volunteers and have numerous ways to get involved.

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks - The Montana Wildlife Center rehabilitates orphaned wildlife for the purpose of release back to the wild, while offering visitors opportunities to learn about wildlife and the natural world in a community facility specifically designed for conservation education.

Helena Community Gardens - Helena Community gardens manages seven different gardens in the Helena area. These gardens provide more than 200 garden plots to the residents of Helena. Five of the seven gardens also designate a few beds to grow vegetables for Food Share. These beds are maintained by volunteers and the vegetables are donated to Food Share. 

Helena Food Share - Helena Food Share volunteers stock shelves, assist clients, sort and package food, load and unload trucks and help keep up facilities and grounds. Most volunteer work happens between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some special volunteer projects occurring on weekends and evenings.

Big Brothers Big Sisters - Through the Montana Wilderness Association and The Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center, the Outdoor Explorers Mentoring Program is a program designed to work in a partnership with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Forest Service to provide outdoor opportunities to youth.

Montana State Parks - Montana State Parks offer volunteer opportunities for individuals of all ages, families with children, as well as service groups and clubs. Whether you can spend an hour, a day or a season, you’re sure to find something to match your interests and help today's visitors and future generations enjoy these special places, too.

Habitat for Humanity - Habitat for Humanity is always looking for skilled and unskilled individuals and groups to partner in the building process. There is always a place for every individual on their work sites.

YMCA of Helena - YMCA of Helena's mission is to prevent homelessness, provide safe and supportive housing for women and children experiencing homelessness, and provide services that restore hope, self-sufficiency, and happy and healthy lives.
