Our Past Projects
Field Crews:
Crews work with a variety of our partners in areas like the Flathead and Kootenai National Forests, the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, and Glacier National Park. MCC also works with state partners like Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, and various local non-profits and “friends” groups. Our partners work hard to leverage dwindling financial resources for the benefit of land, wildlife, and the local community. In any given season, members might maintain footbridges during one hitch and mend fence protecting riparian areas along a river the next. Crews may also find themselves committing as many as 12 weeks to a backcountry ranger station rerouting unsustainable trails and building turnpikes. From deep in the woods, to just down the street, MCC's Northern Rockies region is working hard to improve northwest Montana and its communities, one project at a time.
Youth Program:
Folks serving in the north program branch experience a wide array of projects and landscapes during their time with MCC. A crew may work on bison habitat recovery efforts on the Bison Range, clearing trails and corridors in the Kootenai National Forest, or citizen science and trails projects in Glacier National Park. On any given day, you may find yourself working with the US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Montana State Parks among others.
