Aaron Jacobs | Director of Philanthropy
Aaron moved to Montana with his family from Arizona when he was in third grade. He grew up in Trout Creek (Sanders County) and graduated from Noxon High School. He received a BA in Sociology from Pomona College in Claremont, CA and attended NYU/Gallatin School for graduate studies in politics and sexuality. Aaron spent several years fundraising for organizations providing HIV and AIDS services in NYC and for Planned Parenthood of Montana. He helped build the community philanthropy organization Social Venture Partners (SVP) Seattle, creating opportunities to engage individual donors in more effective philanthropy and managing multi-year funding and capacity-building partnerships with local grantees. At the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation in NYC, he helped manage multi-year grants for organizations implementing growth and quality improvement initiatives and served as project manager for growth capital grantmaking collaborations. Most recently he served in interim leadership roles at SVP Seattle and National Center for Family Philanthropy, guiding organizations undergoing significant evolution following leadership transitions and shifts in program models and organizational structure. He is excited to be working with a Montana-based organization that combines civic engagement and conservation, connecting people with the outdoors and each other. Aaron lives in Missoula where he enjoys time with his parents and brother’s family, the many camping and hiking opportunities, the symphony, container gardening on his small deck, and his cat.
