Smoke and Thelma Elser started leading outfitting trips into the Bob Marshall Wilderness the same year the Wilderness Act was passed. In the 50 years of owning and operating Wilderness Outfitters, it is estimated Smoke spent over 8,000 nights in the backcountry.

Clay Skeens and Jim Dyson are far from being newcomers to leadership. Combined, the two carry nearly 25 years of military experience and have served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Women and men from the Army and Marine Corps have undoubtedly benefited from the drive of these two men.
