So, you know what wildland fires are ? Big, Huge, and sometimes deadly to local wildlife and even people. After what's left after the fire, you'd think well what can be saved if everything is burned? Well, lemme tell you the Western larches and sometimes even Douglas firs can be salvaged instead of cutting down live, healthy, growing trees. We can save them from being cut down. 

That's where we come in. We survey these trees and measure them to see if they're healing or dead depending on what our project partner wants us to do at either site. We save the Dougs or see if there are any dead Larches to be cut and salvaged instead of cutting a good thriving healthy tree. I've learned so much from our project partners about the different biodiverse types of conifers and how some are even fire-resistant like the Western larches. So even these really burnt, devastated areas can still be a source of good and eventually, a place for future trees to grow and begin anew. Measuring these trees has definitely been an experience to remember.
