Birth of the Buff

Three crew members sit on a log, holding tools and smiling

Red crew embarked on their first hitch of the fall season in the Bighorn National Forest. We were responsible for a five-mile stretch of trail and did a lot of corridor clearing of sage and fallen trees as well as build a check dam over a braided section of trail. The red crew also had our first experience making tread. Between the 10-mile hiking days and our first experience at trail work, a crew name was born: the Buff Swingers.
