HistoriCorps? More like #roofingcore! This is a story of how we blasted off to baja town with two wonderful women named Cathy and Leisa and two crazy dogs named Bonnie and Frank.

The wildland restoration crew found ourselves in Wyoming this week restoring a wild historic ranger cabin. Within an hour of our arrival, we climbed up on the roof and started hammering in cedar shakes (not shingles). After some embarrassingly errant hammer swings and a quick lesson from our project partners, we were professional roofers in no time.

After eight days of pounding in shakes, trying not to fall off the roof, running out of nails, flying cedar boards, and escaping Frank's wrath, we are proud to say the cabin is now fully roofed and ready for the rain that started falling 20 minutes after finishing.

On our off time, we got the full Cody cultural experience and hit up the local rodeo where we enjoyed some popcorn and beautiful patriotic poetry. We cheered and clapped while little kids got thrown off their horses, and booed loud when grown adults fell off their bulls, and ended the night watching the stars.
