Scrambling Trails with Forestry

Looking back, this hitch was a week full of flexibility, teamwork, and going with the flow. As the hitch kicked off, we were asked for some flexibility as our project partner had to hop on an active fire - this led the Forestry crew to go and buck up some trails! We started our week clearing trails on a stunning section of the CDT with wildflowers in full bloom! Our crew trekked through the marvelous meadows and the shaded tree-lined trail; we cleared many berry bushes, and tree hazards, and closed social trails in an effort to conserve this section of the CDT for many to come!

Later in the hitch, we got a little scrambled and in the best way possible! As we made our way up the Coffin Lake trail we were met with lots of members from the community! We enjoyed being able to educate the public, pet some friendly pups, and even make parts of the trail more accessible for a family on their way back from the Lake! Following our lovely lunch at the lower lake, our project partners really wanted to show us the upper lakes and the views that came with them! We began our ascent, scrambling and giggling all the up the most beautiful rock side to the upper ridge line. As our eyes met the horizon and the glimmering lake I think all jaws dropped in unison from the beauty around us and of the Yellowstone valley below.

All in all, we were a little all over the place physically and I wouldn't have had it any other way! We ended the week as a team with lots of laughter, a quick fishing trip, and our favorite Barbeque in town! I am stoked to see what the next hitch holds for Forestry!
