Job Title: Northern Great Plains Program Coordinator

Reports To: Northern Great Plains Program Manager

Classification: Regular Full Time

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Northern Great Plains Program Coordinator (PC) position is responsible for supporting and strengthening partnerships and projects in the Northern Great Plains Region of Central & Eastern Montana, Eastern Wyoming and Western Dakotas. The Northern Great Plains Program Manager (PM) supervises the PC. The PC must establish and maintain a good working relationship with MCC’s Crew and Individual Placement (IP) members, partners, stakeholders, community members, local producers, volunteers, MCC staff and board members.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Programmatic:

  • Assist the PM in managing existing projects and identifying new mesic, grasslands and wildlife habitat projects to be implemented by MCC Crews and IP members
  • Support monitoring efforts of MCC-led projects throughout the NGP Region
  • Generate, manage and recruit volunteers to support new or existing restoration projects
  • Support the PM in organizing trainings (riparian/mesic restoration, engaging rural communities, partnership development, etc.) on related initiatives for AmeriCorps members and partner staff
  • Develop outreach materials and events
  • Maintain existing relationships with MCC’s partners/stakeholders and present MCC’s program updates as needed for events and meetings
  • Develop new relationships with stakeholders to support MCC’s programs
  • Travel extensively throughout the region to sustain relationships, attend relevant local meetings, support MCC Crews in the field and move initiatives forward
  • Support Big Sky Watershed Corps and Conservation Interns placed throughout the NGP
     

Administrative:

  • Support all facets of reporting/administration related to the NGP initiatives
  • Assist with the development of grant reports, adhere to budget projections, and track relevant project expenditures (travel, lodging, supplies, consulting services)
  • Support the PM in developing new funding sources
     

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in higher education, youth development, education, corps programming and/or natural resource work
  • Ability to develop and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences
  • Proficient with computer programs such as Word, Excel, Dropbox and Google Suite
  • Able and willing to travel and work a variable schedule, including overnight travel for in-person meetings and public presentations
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable per MCC parameters

 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with rural and agricultural communities
  • Previous experience in wildlife habitat, drought, climate, riparian, and/or grasslands-related work
  • Experience in communications and marketing
  • Experience in organizing, recruiting, and leading volunteer events
  • Experience with ArcGIS and other mapping software
