Lauren E. Rex - Western Wildlands, 2012
In the wilds of Montana as an AmeriCorps member serving in our Western Wildland region, Lauren connected her passions for conservation and the outdoors, with a commitment to service and justice. She carried these passions forward as an explorer of wild places in the West, a participant in many outdoor adventures at Bowling Green State University, and as a leader of civic engagement programs at Colby College. Lauren's passion for service and justice also left its mark with the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank.
Throughout her years of service in conservation and social justice, Lauren also battled against depression. Her life was marked by her focus on helping others, but in the end, her biggest battle was in helping herself. MCC remembers Lauren for her dedication to conservation and her love of the wild landscapes she helped to protect.
